The rules for using Trusted Contractor.
By using trustedcontractor.us or the Trusted Contractor app you agree to these terms and to the review guidelines. Effective October 17, 2026.
Reviews
You may review a business you hired yourself. A review must be your own experience, and you may not accept money, discounts, or anything else for it. You keep ownership of what you write and photos you take, and give us permission to show them on the site, in the app, and in links people share, until you delete them.
Only you can edit your review, and edited reviews are marked. A business can reply in public and can report a review. Moderators remove a review only for a threat or harassment, personal information, a proven fake, spam or a review of a different business, or a court order or copyright notice. A low rating is never a reason, and the same rules apply to good and bad reviews.
Businesses
You may claim a business only if you are authorized to represent it. Claiming lets you reply, edit the profile, and use the tools in the app. It never lets you remove, hide, edit, or reorder reviews, and nothing you can buy changes that.
You must send review links only to customers you did work for. Offering anything in exchange for a review, or for changing one, is not allowed and can end your access. Your proposals and contracts may not limit what a customer says in a review; federal law makes such terms void.
Estimates, proposals, and signatures
The estimator and the proposal builder are tools. The numbers come from your measurements and your prices, and you are responsible for checking them before you send a proposal. You are responsible for including every notice and term the state requires in a residential contract, and for your own warranty.
A proposal signed online is a contract between the contractor and the customer. Trusted Contractor is not a party to it, does not handle payments, and does not guarantee the work. We keep the signing record so both sides can check it.
State records
License, bond, and insurance status comes from Washington L&I and Oregon CCB public data. We read every license each day and show the date of each check. It is not real time, and the state's own lookup is the authority. A license check is not a recommendation.
What you may not do
Post a review of your own business, a competitor, or an employer; pretend to be someone else; copy listings or reviews in bulk with scripts; get around limits or security; or use the site to send spam.
Copyright
If you believe something posted here copies your work without permission, send a notice to support@trustedcontractor.us with what is copied, where it is on the site, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not allowed and that your notice is accurate. We remove it and tell the person who posted it, who may send a counter-notice. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly post others' work.
What we are not responsible for
We do not hire contractors, do the work, or stand behind it. Reviews are the opinions of the people who wrote them. The site is provided as it is, without warranties, and state records can be out of date or wrong. We are not liable for the work of any contractor, for what a review says, or for a loss that comes from relying on a record that the state later changed. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or lost-profit damages, and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of $100 or what you paid us in the last twelve months. If your use of the site breaks these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
Accounts
You must be 18 or older. You are responsible for what is done from your account. We may close an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
Law
Washington law governs these terms, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in Washington, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top of this page changes when we do, and we tell signed in users in Activity. Questions go to support@trustedcontractor.us.
